House mice are abundant in New York City. From ground level low rent studios to upper-class penthouses, they infiltrate every corner of the city. And now, a new study has confirmed that these mice carry new viruses and potentially deadly superbugs.
According to CNN, a yearlong assessment of the city’s residential mouse population found that what many of these rodents do carry are previously unseen viruses as well as bacteria capable of causing life-threatening human illness. Some of the bacteria carried by these mice were even antibiotic-resistant. New research on the mice that inhabit most New York City domiciles was published Tuesday in mBio, the journal of the American Society for Microbiology.
“Mouse droppings may contain harmful bacteria that are difficult to treat with common antibiotics,” said Dr. W. Ian Lipkin, senior author of the two papers resulting from the study and a professor of epidemiology at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. “Contaminated areas should be thoroughly cleaned, and contaminated food should be discarded.”

While New York City is rarely thought of as a hotspot for seismic activity, scientists have determined the Big Apple is overdue for a devastating earthquake that could effectively level the heart of the city.
The U.S. Geological Survey notes there are nine fault lines running through parts of the city, the largest of which begins in New Jersey and passes Central Park on its way to Roosevelt Island. Others run immediately adjacent to the Empire State Building, Wall Street, and the Barclays Center, home of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets and NHL’s New York Islanders.
According to a new report released by the New York City Consortium for Earthquake Loss Mitigation, even a 5.0-magnitude earthquake—strong, but not considered “major” on the Richter scale—could cause $39 billion in damage and create more than 30 million tons of rubble. A quake of that magnitude, based on the geological record, occurs every 100 years, but the last was in 1884.
A stronger, 7.0-magnitude quake, which occurs far less frequently, would cause more than 6,000 older buildings, most of which do not have reinforced masonry to topple. That is also due to the density of tall buildings in the city that aren’t built to withstand seismic stresses.

In a nation that’s a gigantic gun-free zone, stabbings have surged to the point that the capital has surpassed the murder rate of New York City. The British city’s surge in violent stabbings has seen the murder rate also spike as citizens have been denied the right to defend themselves from attacks.
A massive decline in crime has helped to transform New York City, where London is facing the opposite effect. The total number of murders in London has fluctuated over the years, but it’s risen by 38 percent since 2014. And now, deadly stabbings in England and Wales are now at their highest levels since 2011, rising by 12 percent in the year ending December 2017.
In 1990, of 2,245 people were murdered. Last year, however, that number dropped nearly 90 percent to 290 murders. The Sunday Times reported 15 people were murdered in London in February while 14 were murdered in New York City. Both cities are very diverse with large populations. London has over 8.7 million residents and New York City has about 8.5 million.

Drag clubs are nothing new in New York City — but it took a 10-year-old to dream up the first drag club for children.
Desmond Napoles from Brooklyn in New York City is better known by his drag name, Desmond is Amazing. Though still quite young, he first expressed an interest in dressing up in drag as a toddler and has become somewhat of a celebrity on the drag circuit.
And he is convinced that there are more kids out there just like him. So now, the precocious youngster is launching Haus of Amazing, the ‘first and only drag club for kids,’ where no adults are allowed.
When Desmond was younger, he would fashion bed sheets and towels into dresses and wigs, and would ‘clomp up and down the hallway in his mother’s high heels.’

A M5.1 earthquake downgraded to a M4.1 (USGS) or M4.6 (EMSC) tremor hit Delaware on November 30, 2017. The quake was felt across the east coast of the United States, from New York City to Baltimore. The USGS initially reported the magnitude at 5.1. But was then downgraded to a weak M4.1 by the USGS. The quake, which hit at 4:45 p.m. Thursday was centered about 6 miles east-northeast of Dover, Delaware.
More than 6500 reports have been left by baffled witnesses on the USGS homepage. Among others, people reported house shakings for about 10 seconds, windows rattling, and loud but deep thundering noises or booms. Here some testimonies of the quake. There are no tsunami warnings or threats.
I don’t know what the USGS is trying to hide there… But well, a pretty strong earthquake (for the region) unexpectedly hit Delaware on November 30, 2017… Just a few miles away from the Ramapo fault.

The bird-flu epidemic that has affected animal shelters citywide all began with a little tabby named Alfred.
The kitten was adopted from a Bronx shelter in late October and showed symptoms of H7N2 a few weeks later. He died Nov. 12.
Soon after, hundreds of shelter cats showed the same signs, including runny nose, watery eyes and general weakness.
“Alfred is Patient Zero,” Dr. Robin Brennen, director of shelter medicine for Animal Care Centers of New York City, told The New York Times.
She said it’s unknown where he contracted the illness.
“That’s to me the scary part,” Brennen said. “Weird.”

Education officials in New York City are submitting what amounts to “false reports” to those who enforce laws protecting the well-being of children of homeschooling families because they simply will not process the paperwork the families file in a timely fashion.
So alleges a lawsuit filed on behalf of homeschool families by the Home School Legal Defense Association.
The problem is that although parents are filling out all the required paperwork to homeschool and submitting it on a timely basis, the city’s education department lets it sit.
That means students who are in legitimately homeschooling are counted truant by the city, which then dispatches Child Protective Services agents to investigate.
“Rather than follow the clear direction of New York’s regulation governing homeschooling, these defendants regularly make demands not included in the regulation and fail to follow the deadlines imposed on them by the regulation,” the complaint says.

In New York City, where the Statue of Liberty stands, 1,752 unborn children at least 21 weeks of age–and still in their mother’s wombs–were killed in 2013.
That means, on average, someone in New York City killed one of these unborn children every five hours.
Legal abortionists were the perpetrators. Elected officials, Supreme Court justices and elites who condone and rationalize such killings were the co-conspirators.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published the number just before Thanksgiving.

NEW YORK — A recent edition of a magazine published by the Islamic State includes a guide to using vehicles in terrorist attacks, and suggests the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as an “excellent target.”
The New York Police Department said Monday that it is aware of the possible threat, published in the third issue of the Islamic State’s propaganda magazine Rumiyah on Nov. 11, and had already implemented precautionary measures designed to prevent vehicular attacks.
“As you’ll recall, last year the route was lined with hundreds of blocker cars, very much similar to what we do along presidential routes,” said John Miller, the NYPD’S deputy commissioner of intelligence and counterterrorism.
The 46-page magazine features a section called “Just Terror Tactics” focused on vehicular attacks. The guide points to the July 16 truck attack in Nice, France, which killed 86 and injured 434.

It’s nothing less than a gateway to destruction. And it shows America is at a “dangerous point” as it turns away from God.
“Harbinger Man” Jonathan Cahn, the world famous messianic rabbi and a bestselling author of several books, including the brand new title “The Book of Mysteries,” reacted sharply to a supposed “Triumphal Arch” recently unveiled in New York City. The triumph, said Cahn, is only that of false gods.
What is especially shocking, said Cahn, is to see in the very city where the Sept. 11 attacks took place a monument to Baal, the same god to which the Israelites turned during their time of apostasy.
“When I spoke on Capitol Hill I was led to speak of Baal as the incarnation of America’s apostasy,” Cahn told WND. “So now to see the actual manifestation of Baal on American soil is stunning.”
The arch erected in City Hall Park recently was a recreation of the Arch of Palmyra, destroyed in August 2015 by ISIS when it took control of the Syrian city, once a Roman settlement. The arch was re-created by the Institute for Digital Technology and UNESCO. It was created by robots following a 3-D model constructed from photographs taken of the original arch before it was destroyed. After being displayed in London and now New York City, the arch is going to be displayed in Dubai as part of a worldwide tour.
