Coroner Report: 1,030 People Killed By Euthanasia in Ontario

( — Data from the office of the chief coroner in Ontario, Canada, show that as of the end of last year, 1,030 people had been killed by euthanasia, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD).

The information from the coroner was obtained by writer Patricia Maloney and posted by her on Feb. 15, 2018. The full data can be seen here.

As the information shows, as of December 31, 2017, the “total number of [MAiD] cases completed in Ontario” was 1,030. In 1,029 cases, a clinician (doctor of nurse practitioner) administered the lethal dose of medication to kill the patient. In one case, the patient administered the drug.

There were 517 females killed and 513 males. The average age was 74 — the youngest, 22, the oldest, 101.
